Использование общественного продукта в процессе удовлетворения экономических потребностей людей, заключительная фаза процесса общественного производства. В макроэкономических моделях потребление (его стандартное обозначение — С) — это товары и услуги, покупаемые домохозяйствами, исключая строительство домов (его относят в инвестициям). Различают производственное П. (производительное) и непроизводственное, или «собственно П.», как его называл К.Маркс [1]. Последнее, в свою очередь, делится на общественное и личное П. (удовлетворение общественных и личных потребностей). Размеры и характер личного П. при прочих равных условиях зависят от уровня доходов людей и цен на приобретаемые товары и услуги (см. Анализ спроса и потребления, Предельная склонность к потреблению, Слуцкого уравнение, Функция потребления, Функция спроса, Энгеля кривые). Непроизводственное П. относится к процессам жизнедеятельности человека. Поэтому в моделях, представляющих экономику в целом, оно может либо включаться в моделируемую систему, либо выводиться за ее пределы.
